SUKHNA LAKE The Foundation’s projects include: creating surveys, publishing much- needed documentary anChandigarh’s only and most famed lake, Sukhna Lake, is man-made, created by damming the seasonal stream that comes down from the Shivalik Hills, Sukhna Choe. Le Corbusier’s greatest creation, his vision for Sukhna lake still lives on. Carrying on his legacy, till date no motor boats are allowed in the lake and neither are any motor vehicles on the promenade.
Le Corbusier had predicted that people would be drawn to the lake for the care of their body and spirit. True to his words, even before the sun dawns over the lake and well after it sets, people of all ages can be seen walking, jogging, sprinting on the promenade, outlining the lake’s perimeter. Distances of 500 meter, 1 km and so on are marked on the promenade, so you can easily map the distance covered by you.
While the lake has fishes, but fishing out here is restricted so check with the administration about it. With migratory birds like Crane, Stork and Siberian Duck having discovered the delights of Sukhna Lake, it has been declared a protected national wetland

Later, a gift of a doll from a Hungarian diplomat gave Shankar the idea of collecting dolls from countries he visited. He often held exhibitions for poor children, and at one exhibition in Delhi, among the hundreds of visitors were the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru accompanied by his daughter Indira Gandhi. Indira was inspired and together with Shankar set up an international museum for dolls, eventually materializing one November 30, in 1965.

PUNJAB CRICKET ASSOCIATION
What was a swamp with deep ravines in 1992 was turned into India’s best stadium within a span of two years. The Punjab Cricket Association Stadium at Mohali, on the outskirts of Chandigarh, is a truly world-class venue with excellent practice facilities, spectator-friendly outlook and sufficient provisions for the media. The pitch at Mohali had the reputation of being the livliest in the country – India were even rolled over for 83 on the first morning against New Zealand in 1999 – but it changed complexion drastically over the next few years and turned into a dead pitch producing high-scoring draws. There have also been some cracking one-dayers played on this ground, the most thrilling being the World Cup semi-final in 1996 when Australia squeezed past West Indies in a nail-biting finish.
